Using oil paint on canvas, Alberto La Tassa creates surrealistic, experimental pictorial worlds, often using a bold combination of colours and expertly uses shape and form. In his paintings, ancient godesses, emperors, knights and kings are transported into the contemporary world as he playfully combines classical art with a modern twist. His work is reminiscent of the fleeting yet sublime moment after waking up, when you suddenly remember your dream before it drifts from your mind. The viewer is immersed in a glamorous, aesthetic and fascinating dream world in which reality and fantasy merge. It is a pleasure working with Alberto, a true artist in every sense of the word, addicted to his craft and ever dedicated to his atelier, which I had the honour of visitng first-hand in Venice, where the magic happens.
